Well this years National Youth Workers Convention has come to a close and wow have I been literally rattled to my soul’s very core! Yes I have really learned some new technique’s and tips, yes I have felt loved on by the leaders here as well as God, but most of all God has confirmed so much in my life this weekend! I feel like I am coming home refueled and recharged with a sense of urgency to give the Gospel to students as well as show them how to give it to others! I am excited about all that God has shown me and confirmed to me and I am ready to make an impact & difference in those around me who I have been called to serve! This weekend has really been amazing and I can’t wait to share my experiences with anyone who is willing to listen/share with me. Lets grab a coffee soon and talk about our great God!

I have been a huge fan of Pastor Perry Noble since I heard him speak at Orange Conference in 2009…he captivated me in how he relates the Gospel to his audience! His new book Unleashed hits stores today (September 18th) and through online retailers on September 20th! I got hooked up with an advanced copy and let me tell you, this is a must read for 2012 as soon as possible! The book talks about how we as Christians can live an Unleashed life in Christ and he focuses on King David’s life, the good & bad, as well a a cast if other biblical heroes to show that even though God did great things through them, they were just like you and I! It has really encouraged me to live a life more Unleashed for God and His word, but also to remember that when Satan tries to tell me that God can’t use me because of what I’ve done, I can just laugh at him and allow God to do BIG things in me by living Unleashed! Get your copy ASAP!

“To see a community of teenagers turn this area upside down with the love of Christ is my dream for 2012!” This was my Facebook status update last night at 11:26pm and I have wrestled with this statement literally all night long! Well I have some good news, A change is coming so get ready and get excited!

For far too long as your leader I have to take full responsibility when I say I have let you down by being mediocre, because we do not serve a mediocre God. During the Christmas break I have spent many hours in prayer and fasting searching out for the barriers that are hindering this Student Ministry from being the very best in this community, and that barrier has been me. Before you read any further this is not my resignation from my position here at Old Camp, whew, it is however my resignation from the way this Student Ministry has operated. Now while we have done some great things over the last few years together, I feel that we are doing ourselves an injustice to believe we are fulfilling our potential as a Student Ministry. I was moved and inspired by what Pastor Fred Ricks said at 1632 this past Sunday evening and I felt that he was the messenger that God was sending to speak to me, Change is coming and Change starts now! The mood has changed drastically in my life and in this ministry. The days of shooting from the hip in preparing for Sunday evenings are all over. From now own we will be very intentional in our time together with our sermons/talks on Sunday evenings as well as training and equipping each other to become better disciples of Christ. Our new ministry will be all inclusive based on honesty and reality stripping down and getting real about where we are in our relationships with Christ and each other and where we want to be. We have an idea and a plan as to where we want to be and how we are going to get there, so I would like for you to ask yourself, “Am I going to be a Catalyst for this change or a Barrier?” I am not saying that we are not going to have fun with this, indeed it is going to be a blast and there is nothing wrong with having a good time together, but souls are at stake and that is no laughing matter. The goal for this ministry is not to cut out the light heartedness, because we will have those times together, but this will be a time to worship, of joy, of reflection, but mostly to grow. This will be a time for you to come and gather with your friends and other leaders to not be a plug, but be a receptacle of the Word of God. If we are honest with ourselves at the end of the day we all want to grow in our relationships with Christ and we want to see our friends come to a relationship with Him, these Sunday evening experiences will be designed in a way for this to take place. I am asking each of you to prepare yourselves through prayer to come and be a receptacle to what God wants to do, be that Catalyst that helps flip this community with the love of Christ!

I realize that in the past anytime there has been a school holiday we have taken those Sunday’s off, and we will still take breaks along the way don’t get me wrong, but we want to offer you a place to charge your batteries and continue to grow in your relationship with Him. I understand that a lot of these three day weekends are spent with your family, and that is awesome, but we still want to offer a worship experience for those who are hungry for it. We will only meet on those Sundays from 6:00-7:00pm as opposed to meeting from 5:00-7:00pm and this will begin this Sunday evening January 15th. If you have plans with family already made, enjoy being with each other, but if you have nothing much going on I want to encourage you to come and spend sometime with us digging into the Word of God.

I love each and everyone of you that are reading this blog and I truly believe that God is ready to do something so BIG in our community, all it takes is some people that are ready to answer His call!

I just started and finished a book in the same setting, yeah that’s right I read a whole book in a short amount of time. The book I read was “Wren’s Nest” the author, you’ve don’t know her as an author, is Anita Saunders. The subject of the book is the life of her late daughter Jessi Wren Saunders, who just happened to be one of my favorite students of All-Time! This book was a fantastic memoir to honor Jessi’s memory, I read it with many emotions, some were funny and some had the tears flowing. I have said it before and I will say it again until my dying day, Jessi was special, she had a heart for Christ & others that is simply unmatched to anyone I have ever met! She was such a joy to be around and to say I miss her daily is an understatement! Anita you did a FANTASTIC job on this book, I can’t begin to imagine what it took for you to do this but I believe that many lives will be touched by her life! I recommend that you grab a copy of this book and check it out for yourself, whether you knew Jessi or not, you will benefit from reading it!
